Getting Baked

 I have always wanted to paint this white house and it's surroundings which can be viewed from just

outside the front studio door at ACME Art Studios which is located on North 5th Avenue in Wilmington, NC. I finally had a chance last week. It was early, 7:30-8am but close to halfway in the sun broke through

these clouds and I was getting baked very quickly. A friend told me that a fellow artist who paints plein air on a regular basis gave him these words of advice..."don't be a hero", no 8x10 inch painting is worth getting sun stroke over. Maybe a 24x36....

Bottom line, I was so uncomfortable I could not concentrate and the scene had changed so drastically I heeded my friends advice and set it aside.

Studio Time

 It has been months since I have posted anything, the main reason being is I have been busy in the studio and then it just became too hot and muggy to enjoy getting out there. Instead I set up my French easel and started a series of paintings based on old family photos. These are all fairly small, most being 8x10 and all are on either gessoed plywood or canvas board.

Back Yard

 I have not had a chance to paint outdoors for quite awhile. Most of my work has been in the studio but I finally had a chance to get outside a couple weeks ago and try out my new half box French Easel. This was done fairly quickly, one and half hours and is an 8x10 oil on board.
